Naltar Valley:
Naltar Valley, about 42 Km from Gilgit City, is famous for
its stunning lakes, dense forests, and vibrant landscapes. Embark on a
thrilling jeep safari to reach the valley and witness the turquoise waters of
Naltar Lakes amidst the towering mountains. During winter, Naltar Valley
transforms into a ski paradise, offering exciting opportunities for skiing and
snowboarding; national-level ski competitions are held almost every year in the
winter.
Bagrote valley:
The valley is about half an hour's drive from Gilgit city,
famous for juicy fruits including the pear with unparalleled taste.
Besides, there are lush pastures, thick forests, and pristine scenes which
captivate a traveler in search of tranquility and peace. The Bagrote valley
face of the Rakaposhi mountain is much better for climbing during the Summer.
Kotwal Lake:
Kotwal Lake is located,60 km towards the eastern side of the
Gilgit city, on the top of the Haramosh Valley. The lake is surrounded by
forest and many high peaks including the famous Haramosh Peak, Dinani Peak, and
the Laila Peak. It is a high-altitude lake (12500 ft.) that offers eye-catching scenes for travelers.
Gilgit Cuisine:
Gilgit region offers a variety of traditional food that is a
delight to the taste buds. Try "Chapshoro,"
a crispy and savory meat-filled pastry, or "Girda," a local bread baked in tandoors, which pairs perfectly
with the region's flavorful curries. "Kilawoo,", dried walnuts infused with the juice
of mulberry and honey that waters your mouth. “Dawo-dawo” is a thick soup made with flour noodles and meat broth,
mixed with local spices is yet another mouthwatering, sizzling delight.
